livermore edition

There's something about fall in Livermore Valley, golden vineyard rows, crisp mornings, pumpkin patches dotting the hills, and just enough chill in the air to justify a cider or a glass of red. Whether you're a local planning a weekend or visiting for the season, grab your pumpkin spice latte and read my guide to making the most of autumn in Livermore.

Pumpkin Patches & Farms

G&M Farms:

Located right off I-580 at Isabel Avenue, G&M Farms has been a Livermore fall staple for years (it's even been featured TWICE on the David Letterman Show). It's my favorite one to go to, with a corn maze that changes every year! Watch my video to see what it's like. Highlights include a six-acre corn maze, hay ride, a cow train, pony rides, farm animals, pedal carts, a colorful corn pit, jump pillows, and plenty of photogenic sunflower displays.

Joan's Farm and Pumpkin Patch:

A Livermore classic, open through the end of October. Wander a hay bale maze, try your hand at pumpkin bowling, take on a giant inflatable slide, and say hello to the animals in the petting zoo. Grab a slice of pumpkin pie or a snow cone while you're there, and pick from a huge range of pumpkins — from tiny gourds to prize-worthy carving pumpkins.

ABC Tree Farms Pumpkin Patch:

A lively outdoor pumpkin playland with inflatables, seasonal décor, and no shortage of photo opportunities — typically open late September through the end of October.

Alden Lane Nursery:

Part nursery, part fall festival. Browse pumpkins, gourds, and farm-fresh apples under century-old oak trees, and don't miss the annual Scarecrow Contest in October, where locally crafted scarecrows are displayed throughout the nursery grounds. It's one of the most charming, photo-worthy fall spots in town.

Wine Country Meets Fall

Livermore Valley's wineries are especially beautiful in autumn, when the vines turn shades of gold and red. Pair your pumpkin patch visit with a tasting at any vineyard for the classic combination of crisp fall air and a glass of local wine.

Downtown Fall Festivities

Possibly one of the coolest things about Livermore! Grab your witch hat and head downtown for an evening of Halloween-themed shopping and dining under the string lights. Every corner you'll see a pointy hat, careful not to get a spell cast on you!
